She is the leader of the British Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990, British Prime Minister during the 1980s (1979-1990), and is the only woman so far maintained that position two. Her term of prime minister in the history of Britain's longest since 1827. As an important politician in the history of contemporary England, she is widely admired as well as by many protesters.

Surely she is one of the most important politicians in contemporary political history. Margaret Thatcher occupies 16th place in the list of 100 Greatest Britons of all time, made by the BBC in 2002.
