Thatcher was the longest-serving prime minister William Gladstone from, who also have the longest continuous time served as prime minister since Lord Liverpool (early 19th century). She is the only woman who has held the post of prime minister and the leader of a political party in the UK, and important, along with Margaret Beckett, was one of two women who each hold one of the four key positions of national (prime minister, finance minister, interior minister and foreign minister).
Surely she is one of the most important politicians in contemporary political history. Margaret Thatcher occupies 16th place in the list of 100 Greatest Britons of all time, made by the BBC in 2002.
