Margaret Thatcher Socialism, Baroness Thatcher (née: Margaret Hilda Roberts, October 13, 1925 - April 8, 2013), also known as a woman of steel (iron lady), is a British politician, lawyers and chemists. She is the leader of the British Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990, British Prime Minister during the 1980s (1979-1990), and is the only woman so far maintained that position two. Margaret Thatcher was born in the town of Grantham in Lincolnshire, eastern England. Her father, Alfred Roberts, owns two grocery stores in town, while active in local politics (he was the town councilors), is also a volunteer missionaries Methodist church. Roberts came from a family with a liberal but politically active independent leanings. He took office in 1952 after the parliamentary Labour Party majority in Grantham town council in 1950. Margaret's mother was Beatrice Roberts née Stephenson; has a sister named Margaret Muriel. the sisters grew up in an apartment on the floor of one of the two stores.
